Should You Buy Crypto?
The short answer: probably not.

Few topics in investing create more arguments than crypto. Some people think it’s the future of money. Others think it’s a giant casino.
Honestly? We can see both sides.
The technology behind cryptocurrency is pretty interesting. There may very well be legitimate uses for it in the future.
But that’s a different question than whether crypto is a good investment. And that’s where we start getting skeptical.
Why everyone talks about crypto
Let’s be honest: people aren’t interested in crypto because it’s a digital currency. They’re interested because they’ve heard stories.
Someone bought Bitcoin years ago and made a million bucks. A teenager turns a few hundred dollars into a fortune on a random coin. It’s exciting stuff. And when prices are going up, everyone suddenly becomes a crypto expert.
Nothing attracts attention quite like someone making a bunch of money really fast.
Here’s the problem
Crypto prices can be all over the place. One day a coin is up 20%. The next day it’s down 30%.
Sometimes prices move because of actual news. Sometimes they move because a celebrity posted something. Sometimes nobody seems to know why prices move at all.
That’s not exactly our idea of a relaxing investment.
If watching your investments bounce around sounds stressful, crypto might not be for you.
The risks are different
Every investment has risks. Crypto just has some extra ones.
There are scams. There are coins that disappear. There are exchanges that go out of business. There are projects that sound amazing until you realize nobody actually uses them.
And then there’s the fact that thousands of cryptocurrencies exist today. A few might survive and thrive. Many probably won’t.
Our take
At Firreo, we’d rather focus on investments that have a long track record of helping people financially.
Businesses that make actual products or provide real services for people. Properties that collect rent. Investments that pay dividends. Things like stocks, ETFs, and REITs.
That’s not as exciting as hearing about a coin that tripled overnight. But investing usually isn’t exciting. It’s mostly consistency.
Slow and steady isn’t sexy, but it works surprisingly well.
What if you really want to buy crypto?
We know some of you are going to do it anyway. And that’s fine. If crypto genuinely interests you, do your homework and keep your expectations realistic.
Most importantly, don’t invest money you can’t afford to lose.
If your crypto investment went to zero tomorrow, your financial life shouldn’t change. That’s a good rule of thumb.
Why it matters
One of the biggest mistakes investors make is chasing whatever happens to be hot at the moment.
Meanwhile, plenty of people quietly build their investments year after year by sticking to a plan and investing consistently.
At Firreo, that’s the approach we prefer.
Building your investments is usually pretty boring. Chasing the next big thing rarely is.
